Mr. Magdy Hussein, Senior Associate, is a member of the Litigation team at ZH&P.  His expertise includes drafting memoranda as related Labour, Civil, and Leasing, State Council and Criminal Laws - as well as drafting legal opinion on the aforementioned subjects and laws.  He is also skilled in drafting sale and purchase contracts, contracts of employment and all contracts related to the mentioned laws.  Mr. Hussein also participates in the various types of legal actions before courts of all degrees of litigation, the court of cassation, the Supreme Administrative Court, the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of Ethics.

Having joined ZH&P in 2006 and with a current accumulated experience of over 32 years, selected examples of the cases he has taken part in include:

• Labor cases filed by some employees claiming a share in hotel profits against Meridien Heliopolis Hotel and Meridien International Company. A judgment with refusal was rendered and upheld in the relevant appeal in 2015 for the cases deliberated so far.

• Labor cases filed by some employees of Sheraton Miramar El Gouna against Sheraton Overseas Company Limited whereby the employees requested compensation for dismissal, a share in profit and service charge, monetary consideration for all types of leaves, and periodical and special increments. The judgment ruled their refusal and was upheld in the relevant appeal in 2016.

• Misdemeanors filed against the managers of Sheraton Luxor Hotel (affiliated to Sheraton Overseas Company Limited) for wasting the Hotel’s movables. Such movables were subject to enforceable attachment, enforced based on the claim of local Fees. The judgment rendered in said misdemeanors adjudicated acquittal – 2012. 

• Case filed before the State Council by one of the leading banks in Egypt against the Governor of Cairo to request the recovery of monetary amounts unrightfully collected by the Governorate. A judgment was rendered obliging the Governorate to refund such amounts – 2015.

Mr. Hussein is member of the Egyptian Bar Association and was admitted before the Egyptian Court of Cassation in 2006. He is proficient in Arabic and English.

He has achieved the LL.B. from the Faculty of Law, Ain-Shams University, in 1984.
